Asociația Culturală Metropolis is a non-governmental organization founded in 2011, whose objectives focus on developing the cultural sector and access to culture, promoting artistic initiatives, supporting artistic and film production, and organizing events, festivals, workshops and training sessions for professionals in the cultural and creative sector as well as the general public. Over more than 15 years of activity, it has been a constant and active presence on the cultural scene and has built up extensive experience running cultural projects of both local and national and international scale, including: 18 editions of KINOdiseea — the International Film Festival for Young Audiences, 13 editions of Balkanik Festival — the first and one of the largest festivals of Balkan culture and music in Southeast Europe, the Caravana Metropolis "Open-Air Cinema" project, and NOMAD IFF — part of the "Minorities Film Festival" project, dedicated to promoting intercultural dialogue and raising awareness and tolerance toward ethnic minorities in Romania. These events have brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and sectors: cultural, media, institutional, public authorities and cultural institutions. Through its activities, Asociația Culturală Metropolis has built a generous network of collaborators and institutional and private partners, both in the non-governmental sector and in the media.

To date, it has secured non-reimbursable funding and successfully carried out projects supported by: AFCN, the Ministry of Culture, ARCUB, the Bucharest City Hall and district town halls, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Romania-France Season, Creative Europe, the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009–2014, and others. The Association therefore has relevant experience managing medium-sized budgets (over 945,000 lei allocated to the "Minorities Film Festival" project, fully audited and successfully closed out) and benefits from a strong understanding of implementation, monitoring and reporting procedures.

Our mission is to develop the cultural sector and access to culture in Romania, to promote artistic initiatives, and to support independent film production. We want to build bridges between generations, communities and different cultures through festivals, screenings and workshops that bring art closer to people. From KINOdiseea, dedicated to young audiences, to Balkanik!, which celebrates Balkan music and culture, to NOMAD IFF, which promotes intercultural dialogue, and CAMERA DE ECOU, which works to prevent extremism through education — every one of our projects starts from the same conviction: culture brings people together.
